Sandblasted Wooden Plaques

This commission consisted of 32 directional signs for a California Methodist School. Most were designed for indoor use, while several units were used outdoors. Four size categories were included in the order, with the two larger signs being address signs containing the street and number of the school. The five two sided units are hanging signs attached to archways in the schools corridors. The Methodist cross and fire logo was employed on many of signs.

These signs were all sandblasted. Sandblasting on either wood or HDU is a more time consuming process and is priced a bit higher. The streaked wood look using this method is achieved by placing a wire mesh above the sign while sandblasting, this results in a wood grained background that is indistinguishable to an actual wood sign. Without the wire screen, a soft pebble finish in the background distinguishes the smooth text from the background. Large orders such as this receive quantity discounts.
